Professional Profiles and Career Opportunities

Pedagogist expert in the area of training interventions and services aimed at adults in organisations, businesses, territorial services (LM57) and in the area of formal, non-formal and informal education interventions and services in cultural-educational, socio-educational and socio-welfare infrastructures (LM50).

 

The figure of the Pedagogist graduating from the LM 57/85 degree course has the ability to act and operate in different work contexts and to implement educational and training activities always from a sustainability perspective, having developed specific knowledge and skills in line with international frameworks (GreenComp).

 

Pedagogist specialising in the area of training interventions and services for adults in organisations, enterprises, territorial services in a sustainability perspective

 

The professional figure may perform functions related to

- detection of training needs in organisations and services

- planning and design of educational and training services and activities in organisations, companies,

training organisations also in relation to integrated systems on a territorial basis;

- design of training actions for the development of workers' skills (initial, lifelong, guidance)

oriented towards sustainability;

- design and management of training actions for the implementation of the European GreenComp (European sustainability

competence framework, 2022);

- coordination and management of staff development plans;

- management of educational activities and services for the development of sustainability competences;

- monitoring and evaluation of the impact of training on people and their organisation/company/body;

- coordination of working groups (management staff, administrative teams, policy commissions, evaluation

assessment bodies), with the ability to promote a relational climate of organisational well-being, problem solving,  conflict mediation in organisational systems and companies;

- innovation of services in the field of training, guidance and lifelong learning in institutions, organisations and enterprises, following the paths indicated by the sustainable development goals (Agenda 2030).

 

This professional figure has specialist technical competences and soft skills: a solid competence in pedagogical-educational disciplines, in-depth knowledge of the various aspects of educational design (needs analysis, definition of goals and objectives, evaluation of human, instrumental and structural resources, methodologies of intervention, verification and evaluation), methods for monitoring and evaluating the outcomes and social impact of projects and intervention programmes, as well as an adequate command of the methodology of educational research from a theoretical historical, empirical and experimental point of view.

 

He/she develops management and coordination skills and has specific competences to operate in the area of training interventions and services for adults and aimed at vocational training, adult education

further training, retraining, guidance, job placement and lifelong training.

Has specific knowledge and skills to integrate sustainability principles, concepts and approaches in the

training and educational system through information, awareness-raising and training interventions.

 

Career opportunities:

This professional will be able to play leading roles in a diverse range of services and facilities, within the sectors of the educational system (education, vocational training, orientation, etc.), as well as in relation to the particular audiences to which the training intervention is aimed (migrants, women, the elderly, managers, workers, the unemployed, ...)

 

According to current legislation, in fact, pedagogists can work in educational, cultural, judiciary, environmental and international cooperation services and structures.They can develop their professional careers, both in Italy and abroad, as:

 

- training manager and designer,

-pedagogist specialising in the area of formal, non-formal and informal education interventions and services

in cultural-educational, socio-educational and socio-welfare infrastructures in a sustainability perspective

- human resource management specialist

- network planner and coordinator

- consultant for local development policies focusing on investment in local human resources and social capital

- research and development manager in companies and organisations

- coordinator and manager of training and orientation services,

- pedagogical consultant

- lecturer in lifelong learning and vocational training, in schools and adult education institutions.

He/she can work in enterprises and training agencies, cultural institutions and education and training services

for sustainable development, in European adult education and lifelong education networks, in schools and guidance services, both in the public and private sector.

 

Pedagogist specialising in the area of interventions and services for formal, non-formal, and informal education within educational-cultural, socio-educational, and socio-assistance infrastructures, with a sustainability perspective

The professional figure can perform functions related to:

- educational counseling to individuals, organisations and institutions, particularly public and private educational services, families;

- design of educational, socio-educational and cultural interventions and services aimed at satisfying local needs and conceived for specific target groups with particular focus on themes related to sustainability (food education, environmental education…);

- organisation and management of educational services within social cooperatives, cultural and environmental promotion and dissemination institutions;

- analysis of training needs and development of educational intervention programmes together with other providers of social welfare and care services;

- coordination of work groups using skills that help to promote a relational climate favouring well-being, problem solving, and mediation;

- innovation of both public and private socio-educational and social welfare services, following the Agenda 2030 sustainable development objectives

 

 

Professional pedagogists have both hard/technical and soft skills: a full mastery of pedagogical-teaching disciplines, in-depth knowledge of the different aspects of educational planning (needs analysis, definition of goals and objectives, evaluation of human, instrumental and structural resources, intervention, verification and evaluation methodologies), methods for monitoring and evaluating the outcomes and social impact of intervention projects and programmes, as well as an adequate mastery of educational research methodology at a theoretical, historical, empirical and experimental level. Develops management and coordination skills and has specific theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in pedagogical and educational sciences to be applied in different formal, non-formal, and informal educational contexts with a focus also on educational-cultural infrastructure services.

 

 

Career Opportunities

This professional will be able to play leading roles in a diverse range of services and units, within the sectors of the educational system (social, welfare, care, cultural, etc.), as well as in relation to the particular target groups to which the training intervention is aimed (young children, teenagers and young adults, families, people with disabilty, vulnerable people who are at risk of social exclusion, ...).

 

According to current legislation, in fact, pedagogists can work in social-educational and social-welfare services and units, with people of all ages, in formal, non-formal and informal educational contexts; in schools as well as in cultural, judiciary, environmental, integration, social-welfare bodies, limited to social-educational aspects; supporting parenting and families. People holding this degree can, in fact, apply for the following job positions, both in Italy and abroad:

 

- manager of socio-educational and personal care services;

- designer and coordinator of educational and socio-educational services,

- design of integrated and local educational systems,

- pedagogical consultant,

- educational and curricular planning expert,

- vocational education and school teacher

-project manager and consultant for educational, awareness raising,  promotional actions for environmental and social sustainability.
